Well done to a team of Year 6 children who came second in the final of the Lego Robotics Competition at Heworth grange CLC on Friday 19th October.

The children - Tara McCartney, Brandon Webber, Erin Brotherton, James Mathewson, Hannah Barras - had to use the computer to programme a lego robot to perform three tasks:
Beat the Defence 1 - Give the robot instructions using your whistle to avoid the defenders and reach the other side of the pitch
Beat the Defence 2 - Your robot has to follow the white line using the light sensor. You must then use the ultrasonic sensor to avoid the randomly placed defender and return to follow the line again
Goal!!! - Each team takes a turn using their free shots earned in the other tasks.

Despite some glitches with the program, the children completed the first two tasks and then scored one goal to come second to Roman Road Pimary, whose team scored two goals.
The children were given prizes for themselves (a 1 gig memory stick) and a Lego Robotics kit and Robosapien for school.
Well done to our fantastic team, known as The Geordies!
