Round the World Virtual Bike Race

As a Bike It school and as part of our commitment to encourage active travel to school, we are delighted to announce that we are taking part in the National, Bike It Virtual Bike Race event starting the 2nd March 2009!

How it works: For every journey to school made by bike; by child, parent or teacher, a set amount of miles will be contributed towards the schools’ total. (It does not make a difference if you have cycled 5 miles to school or 100m!). The total miles will be calculated per school each week and coloured in on our ‘Round the World’ map. The school to achieve the full 46,000 miles first, will be the winner!

Prizes: There will be £1000 for the national winning school and £500 for the 2 runners up.
For the first North East School there will be £250 for the school to spend on cycling events or resources of their choice. Fun events like Bling Your Bike and another Bikers Breakfast will be arranged in school to encourage the children to cycle.
