Fantasy and Fairytales at Dilston Castle

Year One and Two had a magical day at Dilston Castle last week. We all looked fabulous in our costumes and the staff at Dilston were blown away by so many handsome knights, gorgeous princesses and twinkling fairies! We enjoyed making shields, crowns and masks and acted out a fairytale in the magical castle! We were super clue-finders on our treasure hunt and cast the spells to find the gold coins!

Art Week

Year One and Two had a fabulous time during Art Week. We worked really hard on a variety of activities, including making sock puppets, designing t-shirts and painting lanterns. We also investigated the work of the artist Paul Klee and did our own pastel versions of a painting called Seneico. Some of us did some fantastic pavement pictures using chalks too!

Year 5 & 6 trip to Ingram Valley

During the last week in June the whole of Years 5 and 6 visited Ingram Valley as part of their topic about Northumberland. A fantastic time was had by all and the children behaved extremely well during their visit. The day began with a hill climb to the summit of Brough Law, from where the pupils sketched a variety of landscapes across the valley. Unfortunately the rains fell and we headed down the hill for an early lunch. After lunch the chuildren were set a task of creating a dam across the river in their groups. The pupils were judged on the quality of their dam and the standard of presentation. Some groups were slightly more focused on catching the local wildlife rather than brave the freezing temperatures - but after an hours building, the victorious teams were Mr Otterson's group and Ms Taylor's group. The children finished off with a plodge and play in the pools created by their dams - some even managed to submerge themselves fully just to show the quality of their dam building skills!

Early Years enjoy their fantastic BIG TODDLE

On Thursday 19th June, Nursery and Reception classes took part in the Big Toddle.

This was to raise funds for Barnados. The children (and their grown ups too) had a fantastic time, toddled a very long way and had a fantastic afternoon.
We raised over £700.
So a big thank you to all who took part and to those who donated to this very worthy cause. Thank you very much.

Thank you, Skipton Building Society

Ms Morton (Luc Hall's Grandma) from Skipton Building Society came to Assembly this morning to present us with a cheque for £276. The Building Society is sponsoring our new team tracksuits, and the money given will be enough for us to buy 12 sets of tracksuits for our sports teams to wear when they represent Glynwood at sporting events. We are extremely grateful to Skipton Building Society for their generosity.
